Simon Sapper

Simon joined the then NCU in 1989 and is its longest serving National Officer – prior to that he worked for IPMS (now Prospect) and the Anti Apartheid Movement (now transformed into ACTSA).

He is currently responsible for CWU’s relations with other unions, CWU Youth, the National Discipline Committee, strategy delivery, project management, field development and initiatives and CWU union awards. He also represents the union on/to a number of outside bodies including Liberty and Unions21.

Simon has previously filled a variety of roles including National Health & Safety Officer, Legal Services Officer, Officer to the Standing Orders Committee and Assistant Secretary (Telecoms and Financial Services) – looking after members working in those sectors.

Outside of the CWU, Simon is Press Complaints Commissioner, and a member of Liberty’s National Policy Council.
